MEET JORDAN OF MOMFORMAL

Name: Jordan

Born: San Diego, CA.

Currently: San Diego, CA.

Astrological Sign: Scorpio

This Mother's Day we sat down (metaphorically over email) with your mom's no.1 fan, Jordan from @momformal. Sadly Jordan lives in California, so we hit the pavement of Greenpoint to show you how The Break styles his collection. Get to know the founder of the workwear/athleisure brand your parents would actually be proud of in our interview below, and shop our edits here.

Models: @mohnishrachuru & @kiraship shot by ultimate Break Mom and Founder @hannah.richtman.

Okay we have to ask, where does the name Momformal come from?

The name comes from unconditional love, how a mother loves their child unconditionally. Much like my work, it doesn’t really matter what other people think of it as long as I like it. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

How did you discover The Break?

I actually found out about the break through Instagram around 2015. We've been following each other ever since.

Why did you decide to start your own brand?

I wanted to make clothes that I liked and because I love seeing my designs come to life.

Where/when do you feel the most inspired?

I love seeing other people wear my clothes, people who take it and make it the main piece of their outfit, that’s something that inspires me a lot. I’m also inspired by music and movies. Beyond that, my emotions and the way I feel also play a huge role in my creative process.

Who are you at the party?

I'm usually never at parties haha

If you could pick one celebrity to sponsor Momformal who would it be?

I don't really have a specific celebrity in mind but I would love to see my clothes in kpop videos. (So would we!)

What has been your biggest challenge in starting your own business? Biggest surprise?

I don't think I really had any huge challenges starting up, but I’d say the biggest surprise to me would be seeing my clothes in magazines. When I first started I couldn't imagine that happening.

Describe your perfect day off:

I don’t really have a perfect day off. This whole brand is like a day off to me, but I'd say getting new samples in the mail and then getting dinner with my friends later that night would be a perfect day off.

When you’re in NY what is your favorite bar/restaurant/coffee shop to visit?

I actually have never been to NY but I'd imagine the break being one of my favorite places to visit.

Biggest vice and/or pet peeve?

When people don’t wash their hands or when people are rude for no reason. Oh, and people who take advantage of others.

What are you most excited about going forward?

I’m looking forward to getting my next collection made. Recently I've been getting more into cut-n-sew pieces, so I'm really excited for that.

Tell us something people may not know about you?

I love traveling but I never travel.
